Description
|
|
Color. Bright green in life.
|
Male.Head with the vertex only slightly swollen, the tubercles obsolete.
Pro- and mesonota glabrous, at most with a few small granules.
Meso- and metasterna smooth.
Mesopleurae smooth; metapleurae punctate.
Abdominal tergite VIII slightly expanded, X emarginate apically.
Subgenital plate rounded apically. Cerci slender.
Legs with the lateral carinae finely serrate; lower median carina of all femora with two small tubecles
or spines; posterior first tarsomere not as long as the next two together.
Tegmina with the anterior margin yellow, then brown; wings reaching to the middle of abdominal segment
VII, anterior area yellowish-green, veins bright green, posterior area rosy.
Female. Head with the vertex swollen, bituberculate, the sinistral tubercle
much reduced.
Pronotum glabrous or with a few small granules; mesonotum smooth, medially carinate and strongly
constricted anteriorly, sometimes with a few granules.
Meso- and metasterna smooth.
Mesopleurae with a few scattered tubercles or short spines, especially in the posterior third;
metapleurae with small spines.
Abdominal tergites II-IV with the posterior margins smooth, VII with four irregular carinae,
margins slightly dilated in the middle, X medially carinate, apically rounded.
Supraanal plate hidden.
Subgenital plate very elongate.
Legs with the lateral carinae finely serrate; lower median carina of all femora with two small tubecles
or spines; posterior first tarsomere not as long as the next two together.
Tegmina present, green, with the anterior margin darker colored, the veins bright green; wings present,
reaching to about the middle of the median segment.

Systematic notes.
This species is called the caballo de San Pedro in Puerto Rico. I took two pairs together in
the Luquillo Forest.
I have examined eight males and 11 females.
