This exercise will introduce you to the normal and pathologic microanatomy
of the endocrine glands.
First observe the normal microanatomy from Bergman, Afifi, & Heidger, Atlas of Microscopic Anatomy,
Endocrine Glands.
Read the introductory page, and then flip through each plate (15.279–15.296),
studying the image and reading the accompanying text.
Next, go to the endocrine
pathology index page viewing each example. Flip back and forth between normal and
pathologies to appreciate the differences.
Finally, take the endocrine quiz. It’s a trifle difficult to get to it, so here’s what you have to do:
First, open the topic page.
Next, under the heading < Organ Systems >, select the check box for Endocrine Glands (11).
Then, scroll down and click the < Continue > button.
Finally, select the radio buttons < All Question on One Page >, < Untimed >, and
< Expandable >. Finish by clicking < Proceed >.
Voilá! There you are.
To make this meaningful, take a piece of paper, print your name and < Endocrine quiz > on it,
and then write down each of your choices for the 11 questions. Put this aside, as you will
be handing it in to me next week. When done, then use the < Show answer > feature of the quiz;
there is a short feedback for each choice.
